Has this happened to you yet? You wake up one day to realize--you have become the spitting image of your mother? This was really going to be an "outfit" post... but as I perused some of my most recent pictures-- I realized that me and mom share and uncanny in-ability to take photos.
I should add that turning into my mother would not be the worst thing that could happen to me, she's by far the most caring, compassionate, down-to-earth, easy going, laid back, and goofiest person I know.

Take for instance a few from the digital image vault (she's going to kill me for these)
Granted it was the 1970s, and everyone pretty much looked drunk (*note* my Dad was the king of the 70s) .... then of course there was the following series in which I tried to get my mom to take a decent photo with her daughter....
awkward.
and finally... the best we could really do...
Needless to say, when i recently tried to capture my Miami dolphins cheerleading costume (what else can I wear with this sage greenish shade? Thoughts?) i couldn't quite keep it together for the camera.
All is thrifted.
Happy Weekend all!

I love the colors in your outfit.
ReplyDeleteMy mother usually refuses to be in photos and often wears her sunglasses. It infuriates my father to no end. Then again, he's usually behind the camera unless I cajole him into a photo too.
haha! i wouldn't have thought of the miami dolphins thing, guess you have to be a floridite, or a sports fan? you look great, bright and cheery. i love those colors together, and you can always go with white too. i wear green with everything; it's like a neutral to me.
ReplyDeleteyour mom is so cute! it's true that you look a lot like her in that 70s pic, and by the way, it's AMAZING. your dad's stache rules.
Gosh Andrea, I am so hearting on your hair! My mum and i look so alike and ESPECIALLY when we smile in photos - we look dorky. You guys are cute though, what is i about being in front of a camera that makes me feel soooooooo awkward?! I love those colours together, and the sillouhette (spell?) is very pretty. I'm with Heather on your dad's stache too, uber-cooooool.
ReplyDeleteYes. And we don't look anything alike, yet there are so many facial expressions we share sometimes when I look at my pics I do a double-take and go "hi posing mom from when I was 5". It's uncanny. You and your mom are so cute and her 70s pictures are totally worth posting. Our 70s moms are some of the best style-inspiration there is. Adorable. Oh and what is this Miami Dolphins you speak of? You need to be a Floridinian to make that connection for sure. Here it's just "what a darling outfit!"
ReplyDeleteI'm loving that 1970s picture of your family! I think the color you paired with the skirt is just lovely and I wouldn't have thought of the sports team at all. The green is lovely and I could see it with a white or cream blouse as well.
