pen pals!

I think one of the most wonderful and least expected aspects of blogging has been the friendships I have made with fellow blogistas around the world. Getting to know so many of you on a personal level, both my old in living color and new 2-D friends, is the interesting and positive side of the interwebs that I would not have imagined possible.

Finding a group of like-minded, crafty, and inspiring women has provided a source of support and motivation in times of trial. Some of you I know personally-- and its nice being able to be part of your lives still even though we are parted by distances. Others, I've never met and your virtual friendships and posts on randomness mean quite a lot. So you can imagine that when we get the opportunity to extend our friendships beyond blogging... it's pretty frickin' cool!

Since beginning the blog I've had the most fun exchange parcels & words (in physical form) across the planet--creating long-distance pen pals. Being a dorky historian I'm into tangible things. The sort of material traces left behind that become part of history, the stuff of archives, if you will.

So you can imagine my excitement when a package arrived from a favorite fellow blogger, whom I feel I share much in common with, from half way across the world from Teeny.

Teeny, makes some of the coolest stuff out of things she thrifts. Like this beautiful (pink gingham lined) tote she made from an old pillow case! Embellished with a thrifted button and some lace.

Needless to say this tote is my new favorite purse! Inside were other goodies too... a travel book on Samoa (a place we discuss often given her heritage and my obsession), some new goodies, handmade goodies, and a vintage children's book that I think will make its way into my class when we discuss the 1950's archetypal family.

So... thank you Teeny and Happy Weekend!

  2. Love! That's my favorite aspect of this crazy internet world too. Whenever I wear my red shirt with pockets I think of you. Hey that rhymes. Happy Friday, my dear, I'm glad you're back here.
