I'm way behind on blog posts. I'd thought I'd sum up some recent moments. First of course are the local fruit & veg. Even though Florida gets a bum wrap for lots of things, it rarely gets the credit it deserves for its food potential. When we first arrived back we found our (beginning w/ top left) seminole pumpkins had grown to maturity. Add to that local sand pears, muscadine grapes, olives, persimmons and the first of mango season!
Okay, I admit mango season did get a little out of control. Doug convinced a neighbor to let him pick all their beautiful, neglected and delicious mangoes. Not only did we get to enjoy these fresh, enchilado, and have plenty to freeze for mango lassis we also discovered that Doug is allergic to mango sap! Oops!
More recently the star fruits are coming in and are amazing!!! They're just lovely to look at too.
I do plan to post more of our apartment and more stuff on our new town, but until then here are a few crappy photos of my new "more sophisticated" teaching looks. There have been better days but I keep forgetting to document the teaching outfits. You can see a little of our place, more on that soon.
I've tried to be good about thrifting and have managed to only purchase a few new things. Things I hope to wear the heck out of and get lots of use. I have to admit not having much spare time makes thrifting sometimes difficult.
(Skirt, blouse, shoes- thrifted; Cardigan- target)
(audrey hepburn jeans- new, Born sandals- new, cardigan & blouse- Urban Outfitters)
I work literally half a block from the UO, its been hard to resist the sale rack!
(100% thrifted)
This is the standard outfit.
Sorry friends for my terrible posting, hope to catch up soon.
In other news, what have you eaten & worn recently?
oooh fruits of the tropics. what i'd give to live next to a mango tree or hell, in one! instead we get other yummies: late summer berries, peaches, plums, heirloom tomatoes, squash, and apples apples apples. driving across the southwest i had the joy of buying chilled fresh cherry cider from a roadside stand. and tasting all sorts of goodies made with green chiles. so how is the teaching job? are you loving it? i am glad to see your happy content face in your cheerful new place!
ReplyDeleteWow wow wow! You look gorgeous, teach! Sooooo adorable. I absolutely love the stylin. Your haircut is lovely, I've been waiting for you to post pics of it.
ReplyDeleteMangoes....mmmmmmmmmm....the climate is too chilly here for mangoes so we import them from Australia. And poor Doug, I've heard about the allergy symptoms. Not pleasant. You are very lucky to have such a great bounty of fruit though. It's so nice to read your blog again.

Hey! You posted!
ReplyDeleteI like the digs and the threads. How's teaching?
Post again! Post again!
1) So happy that you posted!
ReplyDelete2) All that yummy looking produce makes me drool.
3) Love your Born sandals!
Andrea!
ReplyDeleteYou look teacher-fabulous in all of your adorable outfits! And your hair is so pretty--the curls seem extra happy now. I haven't cut my hair (yet!) but I'm longing to more than not, so I think a shaggy pixie will be in my future... :) I love the way your cut frames your face!
I'm sorry that your hubby is allergic to mango sap--does that prevent him from consuming mango juice and flesh, or merely from harvesting the mangoes?
And thank you for all the blog-love. I'd love to make something to grace your lovely home (a banner? a flag? an apron? a badge? a mixed bag of goodies?) at a super-bargain...Tell me your wildest dreams, and I'll sew a custom order. :)
xoxo,
Gina
Love those fruits! Persimmons are just about my favorite but are hard to come by in these parts. I have been loving all the pumpkin goodies lately-yay for fall!
